This license is very common and necessary for companies that involve trading or import/export business in the UAE. A commercial license applies to companies regardless of the economic zone they are established in. Although the commercial license issued under the free port’s authority can only be used for trading in the Dubai Free Port zone. To get a commercial license one needs to first decide the economic zone where the company will be set up and working. Whether free port or mainland, both have their respective benefits. Once that is decided the company needs to be named keeping in mind not to offend any sentiments of people and the space. After that one needs to fill out an application after which the license will be authorized. If you’re within the mainland, you’ll apply to the DED. If you’ve chosen a free port setup then you’ll apply to the free port.
There are plenty of advantages to getting a commercial license. To begin with, a company can undertake 10 allied commercial activities with just a single license. A company can redeem 100 percent profits and can hire as many international employees as it deems fit.
